Melchor is seeking detail-oriented Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in drawings reviews, take-off process (MTO preparation), change management and progress claim preparation. This role requires specialized skills in interpreting and measuring quantities from engineering drawings and 3D models, ensuring precise cost estimates, and facilitating effective project management. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will also be responsible for supporting the pre-contracts teams in delivery of accurate measurement data and maintaining high standards of financial control.

Key Responsibilities

Drawing Analysis and Measurement:

• Lead the review and interpretation of architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and models (Navisworks, AutoCAD).

• Extract and quantify detailed measurements from drawings and 3D models to prepare accurate take-offs.

• Ensure all measurements comply with industry standards and project specifications while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.

Cost Estimation:

• Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates based on measured quantities and ensure the estimates reflect changes in scope or design.

• Oversee the maintenance of measurement records, ensuring they are updated accurately to reflect any changes in the project scope or design.

Progress Claim Preparation:

• Supervise and ensure the preparation of progress claims based on accurate measurements and cost estimates.

• Lead the review and submission of progress claims to ensure accuracy and timely submission in accordance with contract requirements.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare and present comprehensive measurement reports and documentation for review and approval by senior management and clients.

• Ensure that all measurement-related data and calculations are thoroughly documented, accurate, and easily accessible.

Team Leadership and Coordination:

• Lead and mentor a small team of Quantity Surveyors, ensuring clear communication of tasks and responsibilities.

• Work closely with Perth project team to clarify design details, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment on measurement and cost-related issues.

Compliance and Quality Assurance:

• Ensure that all measurement and estimation activities comply with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

• Oversee the implementation of quality control processes to guarantee that work meets the required specifications and industry standards.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify opportunities for improving measurement processes and techniques, driving efficiency and accuracy within the team.

• Stay updated on the latest industry trends and advancements in measurement software and technology to enhance team performance.

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum of 6 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor or at least 1 year as a Senior Quantity Surveyor, specializing in drawing measurement take-offs, change management, and progress claim preparation.

• In-depth knowledge of concrete structure construction, particularly within Civil, Mining, or general construction environments.

• Ability to interpret and understand detailed engineering drawings, including structural and architectural plans.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to effectively report to stakeholders and lead teams.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for cost tracking and reporting.

• Proficiency in measurement software and tools such as InEight, Navisworks, AutoCAD and Bluebeam.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team of professionals and maintain a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
